New Puppy Checklist

What You Need to Prepare for When Getting a New Puppy

It can be overwhelming trying to figure out what products your new fur baby will need, so we’ve created a new puppy checklist to help make the transition easier for you. They bring so much love and happiness to our lives, but they also require work and dedication. Before you bring your new puppy home, there are some things you should do to prepare for their arrival.

Firstly, you need to make sure that you have the proper supplies. This includes food and water dishes, a collar and leash, a crate, toys, a bed, and treats. You should also have a few basic items on hand, such as paper towels, cleaning supplies, flea and tick prevention, nail clippers, and a brush. We have put a handy checklist towards the end of this blog.

Puppy Proofing Your Home

Puppies are naturally curious and often get into things that they shouldn’t. You should check to make sure that any electrical cords and other items that could be dangerous are out of your puppy’s reach. Making sure to check for any potential hazards in your garden is also important, such as holes that your puppy could get stuck in, sharp objects, and plants that could be toxic. You should also make sure that the fencing around your yard is secure and that there are no gaps for your puppy to escape. Therefor making sure that your home is puppy-proof is important.

Finally, you should be prepared to spend a lot of time with your puppy. Socialising and training are important for their development and be the best version of themselves. Getting a puppy is a big decision, and it’s important to make sure that you are properly prepared before bringing your new puppy home. With the right supplies, a safe home and garden, and ample time to devote to your puppy, you can ensure that your puppy grows into a happy, healthy, and well-behaved dog.
